Contributing

Pull requests are welcome. For major changes, please open an issue first to discuss what you would like to change. Please make sure to update tests as appropriate. If you wish to contribute, we highly recommend following the guidelines mentioned below.

1. Fork this repository.

2. Clone your forked copy of the project.

   git clone https://github.com/your_username/devmate.git

3. Navigate to the project directory.

   cd devmate

4. Create a new branch:

   git checkout -b YourBranchName

5. Make changes in source code.

6. Stage your changes and commit

   git add .
   git commit -m "<your_commit_message>"

7. Push your local commits to the remote repo.

   git push origin YourBranchName

8. Create a PR

Getting Started

Install necessary dependencies for the project to run.

npm i
# or
yarn 
# or
pnpm i

First, run the development server:

npm run dev
# or
yarn dev

Open http://localhost:3000 with your browser to see the result.

You can start editing the page by modifying pages/index.js. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.

    Was checking the UI and saw this issue - https://github.com/AnkitaMalik22/devmate/issues/2. I have a suggestion that the text which is used twice "Find Your DEV Mate!" can be removed from the UI once and "search text!" can have "..." instead of "!". The UI with the changes can be see here:

    Added Responsive Navbar and corrected some CSS

    Feature Implemented: Developed a Navbar using Tailwind CSS.

    External Libraries Used: Tailwind along with icons from Ionic Icons.

    Script tag was used in the index to implement icons using CDN with no changes being made to the package.json file. Colours Added:

    • Default #00df9a
    • on hover:indigo-400 They can be changed as per the liking of the repo owner.

    Further Changes: Moved some properties from the global CSS file to prevent any clashes while making sure their intended purpose is fulfilled.

    Further Notes: I have changed the colour of "Search Your Mates" Typewriter Div to match with the Navbar theme. Can change it to something else or revert back to white as deemed suitable by you.

    I have added some styling to the home.module.css file, this styles helps make the card appear more clean on tablet and reduce scroll. During the course of doing it I also modified the profileCard by adding section to it, so as to keep things in place.

    everyone uses prettier code formatter , so everyone has different global prettier configuration, which leads to multiple unnecessary changes in file. So having a local prettierrc and prettierignore can eliminate these unnecessary changes.

    Add arrow to scroll to results

    The results appear only if you scroll a little and the user can't really tell that they have to do that.

    I suggest we add an arrow below the search input so that it does a smooth scroll to the first results when clicked.
