This is a (Firefox) add-on (WebExtension) that emits a sound every time you connect to a service hosted by Google.

It is inspired by @berthubert's googerteller that you can use outside of your browser to do the same.

This is a fun project, don't take it too seriously!

Note: Find it ironic or not, but to query the list of all Google IPs/subnets, this needs to contact one Google domain, actually. (That request does not emit a sound, though.)

    Bug description

    It does not show up in the extension toolbar or the expanded list:

    But the extension does work.

    Steps to reproduce

    Install the addon on Firefox MacOS, look for icon in toolbar.

    Actual behavior

    No icon in toolbar.

    Visited https://blog.codinghorror.com/ and heard the clicks noises. Soon the audio started to sound like it was feedback, increased in volume way beyond what the maximum should be (to point I had to mute the device immediately) and continued some seconds after I closed everything down

    1. Install Addon to Firefox desktop
    2. In Preferences > Addons > Google Teller, select 'Preferences' tab
    3. Toggle unchecked 'Colored icon...' setting
    4. Refresh the page
    5. Toggle is not checked

    Actual behavior

    Setting option in addon preferences does not persist.

  • Remove need for GStaticCorsFaker

    Remove need for GStaticCorsFaker

    As I guessed, changing the permission to include the www. subdomain makes the CORS bypass work. Thus rendering the GStaticCorsFaker unnecessary. While trying to figure out how to properly run the extension I also noticed that you had an async function that was exclusively using then (and the response error flow probably not behaving as you'd expect it to).
