Overview

Datetime Card

A minimalistic card for Home Assistant Lovelace UI which shows how many days it has been between any input_datetime and today.

Useful to remind you how many days it has been since you replaced your water filter or you watered your favoirite plants.

Installation

hacs_badge

Or you can download datetime-card.js to your configuration/www folder and cofigure Lovelace to load it:

lovelace:
  mode: yaml
  resources:
    - url: /local/datetime-card.js
      type: module

Configuration

  • Open a dashboard in edit mode
  • Click on add a card
  • Search datetime-card
  • Click on the card preview
  • Use the visual or the code editor to configure your card, as below

configuration

type: custom:datetime-card
title: Chinese money
image: /local/plant_chinese_money.png
entities:
  - id: input_datetime.plant_chinese_money_w
    max: 9
  - id: input_datetime.plant_chinese_money_m
    max: 5
  - id: input_datetime.plant_chinese_money_f
    max: 17

NOTE: lovelace-card-mod makes the visual editor crash because it tries to overwrite setConfig method, which in datetime-card is read-only. The code editor works, just ignore the error.

Actions

  • reset date: just press and hold down the mouse button on the bar or on the days label to reset the entity to the current date.

TODO

  • Add autocomplete in the editor for entities
  • Add dnd in the editor for entities
Comments
  • No visual editor available for type 'custom:datetime-card'

No visual editor available for type 'custom:datetime-card'

Interesting... It says No visual editor available for type 'custom:datetime-card'.

Looking at the screenshot you provided, I've managed to get one entity on there, but on the project page you have 3 entities. How did you get that?

    This is what I have.

    type: custom:datetime-card
    entity:
      - input_datetime.christmas_day
    max: 365

    Feature request: notifiers

Thanks for publishing this card. elegantly simple. It would be nice if the card allows to configure a notifier in case the max duration gets exceeded. In the ToDo a dnd is mentioned. It’s that a Do not disturb? The combo would be great. notifiers with a dnd option. best Eric

    no click-on set date

Hello! I love your card, great work. It's just one thing more it would ne nice to have: the possibility to click on entity and set/change date. Is that possible to add? I'll use it as a note for dog water fountain filter replacement (to set date when it was replaced) Thanks!

  • datetime being set to midnight UTC

datetime being set to midnight UTC

I have noticed that on resetting an entity, it is being reset to midnight UTC and not taking into account the local time. For eg: I reset an entity at 8AM 6/6/22 (UTC+10). However, the state of the entity shows as 5/6/22 in developer tools.

Added additional cards that prevent the UI editor

Spent a decent amount of time playing around with card-mod, only to find out that lovelace-layout-card also causes an error with the frontend UI editor.
