DNS-Blocklists: For a better internet - keep the internet clean!

Overview

DNS Blocklists - For a better internet!

Multi - Cleans the Internet and protects your privacy!

An all in one blocklist based on the OISD blocklist, badmojr's 1Hosts Lite blocklist, my own blacklist and other various sources. It can be used as a stand alone blocklist. For every region. Blocks ads, tracking, metrics, telemetry, fake, phishing, malware, scam, coins and other "crap".

Domain-Format: RAW-Link
Host-Format: RAW-Link
AdBlock-/AdGuard-Format (compressed): RAW-Link

Fake - Protects against internet scams, traps & fakes!

An blocklist for blocking fake stores, -news, -science, -streaming, rip-offs, cost traps and co. Based on my manually maintained fake blacklists.

Included in the multi and partially in the OISD blocklist.

Domain-Format: RAW-Link
Host-Format: RAW-Link
AdBlock-/AdGuard-Format (compressed): RAW-Link

Threat Intelligence Feeds - Increases security significantly!

An blocklist for blocking malware, crypto, coin, scam, spam and phishing. Blocks domains known to spread malware, launch phishing attacks and host command-and-control servers. Based on various sources.

Only partially included in the multi blocklist, can be used as an extension.

Domain-Format: RAW-Link
Host-Format: RAW-Link
AdBlock-/AdGuard-Format (compressed): RAW-Link

Note

The blocklists were created for purely personal, private use. They were designed to avoid false positive domains as much as possible and not to block any needed features. Please report false positive domains.

The blocklists are updated daily.

They can be used for PiHole, Blokada, Diversion, PersonalDNSfilter, pfBlockerNG, PersonalBlocklist, DNScrypt Proxy, YogaDNS, AdAway, uMatrix, DNS66, GasMask, HostFileEditor, uBlock, AdGuard, AdGuard Home, AdBlock, AdBlock Plus, Opera, Vivaldi & Co.

    (Discussion) OISD and notracking

I am in the process of reformatting my filterlist repo, and I'd like to recommend your lists. However, I'd like to discuss your list categorization.

For your sources undergirding the lists, we have:

    • Light: OISD basic + 1Hosts (Lite) + other lists
    • Normal: notracking
    • Pro: OISD full

    Unless otherwise noted, OISD=OISD(full).

I've explained here how OISD is both more forgiving than notracking and yet also includes some domains that notracking leaves out. But, notracking is more aggressive than OISD (esp. in terms of potential breakage / false positives), yet it's not as aggressive as 1Hosts (Pro). If you reference my blocklist categorization, I would put notracking somewhere between Balanced and Strict. (It's currently under Balanced but I'm probably removing it soon.)

The problem is, I am increasingly not seeing notracking as Balanced or, to use your list denomination, Normal:

    • Just today, I saw that notracking breaks the Chipotle app.
    • notracking currently breaks links from my university email.
    • The OISD maintainer responds to false positives within a few hours to a few days while notracking can take weeks to months to respond.
    • Since notracking blocks some domains that are in 1Hosts (Pro) but not in 1Hosts (Lite), I would use it as a source for Pro or Pro++, but not Light or Normal, again using your designations.

For these reasons, I'd like to suggest we do either of the following:

Option 1: Switch OISD to Normal and notracking to Pro (small change)

    • Light: OISD basic + 1Hosts (Lite) + other lists
    • Normal: OISD full
    • Pro: notracking

Option 2: Consolidate lists (big change)

Because OISD is very forgiving, we can go ahead and include it in Light and consolidate the list categories:

    • Light: ~OISD basic~ OISD full + 1Hosts (Lite) + other lists
    • Normal: notracking
    • Pro: all lists currently in Pro++
    • ~Pro++~: removed as a category

I've been mulling on this for a few days. Let me know your thoughts or concerns.

    Can you include this list

Hi, I love your idea, and thanks for creating so many varieties of blocklists.

I have been using this for a few months, can you also include this list so the common domains that are not included in the list? If you add to your list, I will then remove my adguard home and use your list only.

    Spam TLD List

Hello, I have been using your blocklists’ for about a day now and they are amazing, no false positives. However in your TLD blocklist the xyz entry has a lot of false positives. Can you add the ru and kp TLD from nextdns configuration? Thanks.

  • A question

    A question

Hello, thank you for your lists, I am using them in AdGuard home and it’s been good.

    1. I have a question, how come IP address are stripped from the threat intelligence feed list? There are blocklists there which contains ip addresses. Just wondering because I have another malware blocklist for AdGuard home which has IPS and AdGuard home has this capability.

    2. Another question is can you add the next dns threat intelligence feeds into yours? It worked great when I was using nextdns so I’m wondering if you can add more sources from there too. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nextdns/metadata/master/security/threat-intelligence-feeds.json

    3. can you create a commonly abuse tlds blocklist for pihole, AdGuard home etc? There are many sources like the one from yokkfing nextdns config since you already have other abuse blocklists like ddns and badware.

    4. How come you don’t add native device tracking to all of your blocklists?

    5. How come there are other blocklists called “pro.extension” for example. What are these, and can you share its source/domains

    6. Can you add malware filters full urlhaus filter instead of the online version?

    7. How do you whitelist domains? Can you provide a source or reason? I see a bunch of weird domains being whitelisted that are included in a bunch of other lists. For example the zooplus.es domains

    thank you

  • FPs

    FPs

This is a humble attempt to remove some most distinct FPs from Pro.Plus edition.

    All results are based on

    https://github.com/hagezi/dns-blocklists/commit/bf9d7f0ad8fd26de9a488342f4196354ef20561a#diff-f6a2b7e14a91f43dd335d0cd5a2d0011a98d9bf1e6181ae3624b231b77e36160

    https://tranco-list.s3.amazonaws.com/tranco_K2QXW-1m.csv.zip

    Methodology:

    1. Download the pro.plus file
    2. Download the tranco list and extract the top 500000 domains.
    3. List the common entries between the two files
    4. Install and config TrendMicro's parental control function. (leave six categories, namely web advertisement, proxy, illegal drugs, violence/hate/racism, illegal/questionable and gambling, unchecked) More info: https://helpcenter.trendmicro.com/en-us/article/tmka-14431

5.Simulate http browsing with cmd tool 6.Export the results. The most blocked categories fall in pornography, shopping, games, software downloads, erotic/mature, streaming... To check which category does a domain belongs to, you can use https://global.sitesafety.trendmicro.com/.

Note: I am not responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the results as a single domain categories database is impossible to cover all domains in a category and all results comes from the TM software.
