Overview

New Tab Default Page

Obsidian plugin to open a note of your choice when creating a new tab, like in the browser.

Usage

  1. Set the note to open in new tabs in the plugin settings.
  2. Open a new tab.
  3. There is no step 3.
  • You can set it the new tab page to any file in your vault really, e.g. an image if you want to have a nice wallpaper as new tab page.
  • Closing your last tab also redirects you to your new tab page.
  • Whether the new note is opened in Reading Mode or Edit Mode is determined by the Obsidian setting Editor → Default view for new tabs. You can also force a different mode using the Force View Mode Plugin.

Installation

Available in Obsidian's Community Plugin Browser via: Settings → Community Plugins → Browse → Search for "New Tab Default Page"

    Great plugin, as the title states I was wondering if you had any future plans to create mobile compatibility, as the plugin doesn't currently support my iPhone at least.

    I think it'd be even more useful for mobile users than desktop users.

    I use Periodic Notes instead of the default daily notes plugin so I can get weekly and monthly notes as well. It would be awesome if this plugin extended its functionality to support daily notes supplied by Periodic Notes as well!

    dbc087479cedf69b963a88b17840ed3c5f81a5b4 does not include opening daily notes via Periodic Notes. It would be great if there was an option for that as well.

    Reason: Periodic Notes has more customization options regarding the folder/subfolder where the daily note is created.
    The core Daily Notes plugin does not support these customizations so you cannot use it to open daily notes created by the Periodic Notes plugin.

    The change/addition would be very small:

    .addOption("periodic-notes:open-daily-note", "Daily Note (Periodic Notes Plugin")

    [Bug]: "No appropriate version found." on Community Install

    Bug Description

    When attempting to install this plugin in the Community plugin browser, the browser acknowledges that the latest version is v0.5.0, but a toast pops up saying "No appropriate version found." when clicking "Install"

    Nothing appears in the dev console that further explains this issue. Additionally, I've tried installation in multiple vaults with varying amounts of plugins and the issue persists.

    (I couldn't submit this without clicking the checkmark saying that I updated to the newest version, but to be clear, I have not installed this plugin previously.)

    Let me know if there's any more information you need to help track this down!

    There is some interaction issue with the hover editor plugin https://obsidian.md/plugins?id=obsidian-hover-editor. When hovering over a non-existing link the plugin is triggered, resulting in either opening a quick switcher modal or (worse) opening a new/different note.
