Discord Package

Ever wondered what Data discord collects? Or did you ever want to view what's inside of a discord package? Discord Package is a customisable tool that allows you to view your data in a fancy way. You could also use our exporting feature to share your selected data with your friends.

This service does not use any third party services and does not collect any data. This Repo is directly hosted via vercel to discordpackage.com

Production Deployment

Discord Data Package Explorer is built with Next.js and Tailwind.css.

Clone the repository git clone https://github.com/peterhanania/discord-package.
Install the dependencies using npm install or yarn install.
Start the app using npm run dev.

Comments

The yearly messages view is displaying in the wrong order

so if my messages are shown from 2018 to 2022: 2022's messages are shown in 2018 2021's in 2019 2020's in 2020 2019's in 2021 2018's in 2020

This makes the graph become shown right-to-left, but the years left-to-right

Fix typos and grammatical errors
Changes:

Changes "google analytics" to "Google Analytics", as it's the name of a brand.

Removes extra padding around links in the privacy banner.

Adjusting the wording of some statistics to flow better and be grammatically correct.

Looking for feedback on the following changes:

Changing the "Read more" link on the privacy banner to its own button next to "Continue"

Changed "is available for self hosting." text in privacy banner to "is available for analysis or self hosting."

I've also made a list of statistics that don't seem accurate or don't make sense and I will ask Discord about them and share the results.

Adds Hour and Minute to Until Nitro

If someone so choices they should be able to see the exact hour and minute they have till their nitro runs out, second may not be needed, but I do want hour and minute.

Performance issues on large data sets

I got a 2016 Mac Pro with an older i5 16GB RAM running latest stable MacOS. I tested it with latest stable Safari and Brave.

When dragging and dropping the package it got stuck while loading the messages. On Safari it first told me to close the site due to high load. Afterwards it reloaded the page forcefully. On Brave it closed the site and showed an error page while loading messages.

It seems like the parsing/loading is very inefficient especially when having huge data sets and could be optimized.

Fixed bugs

Well since you don't have any package-lock.json in the repo, the install requirements part was completely crashing.. So I updated the dockerfile to take in consideration that there might not be a package-lock.json

Clean up payments panel
Removes redundant title for payments panel.

Changes title of gifted nitro to be explanatory enough to not need an info card.

Changes "at" to "on" to be grammatically correct.

Fixes rounding of currency to be a maximum of 2 decimal places.

Change the symbol references in currencies.json to be the actual symbol as basically all modern browsers can display the normal symbols.

Currency symbol is now returned from getMostUsedCurrency to clean up the payments panel code a bit.

"Your payments" section does not round total spending

In the "your payments" section, the total amount spent does not round. It should be rounded to 2 decimal places as that is the most that currency is displayed (except for financial institutions, but in this case it doesn't matter too much).

🐛 fix yearly message graph being backward

Fixes yearly message graph being backwards by adding items to the start of the array instead of the end. There may be a more efficient way to do this whole calculation, which I may look into in the future, so for now this method of using unshift works fine.

Add error log on the screen for mobile devices

Every time a mobile device experiences an error they cannot really report the error to the discord server. So this issue adds error information on the page if the user is on mobile.

Sorting feature for channels, dms, guilds

This is an improvement to the site that allows user to sort the channels, dms, or guilds by top messages (default), and then sort by recently dmed to last dmed (you need check the last message date in each dm).

this will allow users to check their recently dmed people or recently active guilds etc..

Add button next to the eye icon to export the selected div as a PNG

If anyone wants to work on this, this issue is an improvement to the site which is adding an icon where the eye icon is placed to hide or unhides the div but to export the div as a PNG users can download. It would be nice to maybe add a watermark on the bottom right that references to discordpackage.com

Currency symbol is always on the left

Some countries put the currency symbol on the left, some put it on the right. We should add a field in currencies.json that indicates whether it should be on the left or right, and conditionally render it based on that.

In doing this, we should also extract the logic from the component to a helper function that can be passed a value and will return the correctly formatted amount + currency symbol.
